Chapter 5

10.1
The princes of Judah are like those who remove a landmark. I will pour out my wrath on them like water.
11.1
Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment, because he is intent in his pursuit of idols. Therefore I am to Ephraim like a moth, and to the house of Judah like rottenness.
13.1
“When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to king Jareb: but he is not able to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound.
14.1
For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, and like a young lion to the house of Judah.
14.2
I myself will tear in pieces and go away. I will carry off, and there will be no one to deliver. I will go and return to my place, until they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face.
15.1
In their affliction they will seek me earnestly.”

Chapter 6

1.1
“Come! Let’s return to Yahweh; for he has torn us to pieces, and he will heal us; he has injured us, and he will bind up our wounds.
2.1
After two days he will revive us.
2.2
On the third day he will raise us up,
2.3
and we will live before him.
3.1
Let’s acknowledge Yahweh. Let’s press on to know Yahweh. As surely as the sun rises, Yahweh will appear.
3.2
He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain that waters the earth.”
4.1
Ephraim, what shall I do to you? Judah, what shall I do to you? For your love is like a morning cloud, and like the dew that disappears early. Therefore I have cut them to pieces with the prophets; I killed them with the words of my mouth.
5.1
Therefore I have cut them to pieces with the prophets; I killed them with the words of my mouth. Your judgments are like a flash of lightning. Therefore I have cut them to pieces with the prophets; I killed them with the words of my mouth.
6.1
For I desire mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. But they, like Adam, have broken the covenant. They were unfaithful to me, there.
8.1
Gilead is a city of those who work iniquity; it is stained with blood.

Chapter 5

1
“Listen to this, you priests! Listen, house of Israel, and give ear, house of the king! For the judgment is against you; for you have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread on Tabor.
Listen[H8085] to[H3478] this,[H2063] you[H3588] priests![H3548] Listen,[H8085] house[H1004] of[H4428] Israel,[H3478] and[H3478] give[H7181] ear,[H8085] house[H1004] of[H4428] the[H5921] king![H4428] For[H3588] the[H5921] judgment[H4941] is[H3478] against[H5921] you;[H3588] for[H3588] you[H3588] have[H1961] been[H1961] a[H1961] snare[H6341] at[H5921] Mizpah,[H4709] and[H3478] a[H1961] net[H7568] spread[H6566] on[H5921] Tabor.[H8396]
2
The rebels are deep in slaughter; but I discipline all of them.
The[H3605] rebels[H4784] are[H7846] deep[H6009] in[H3605] slaughter,[H7819] but[H3605] I[H3605] discipline[H4148] all[H3605] of[H3605] them.[H7819]
3
I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me; for now, Ephraim, you have played the prostitute. Israel is defiled.
I[H3588] know[H3045] Ephraim,[H669] and[H3478] Israel[H3478] is[H3478] not[H3808] hidden[H3582] from[H4480] me;[H4480] for[H3588] now,[H6258] Ephraim,[H669] you[H3588] have[H3045] played[H2181] the[H3588] prostitute.[H2181] Israel[H3478] is[H3478] defiled.[H2930]
4
Their deeds won’t allow them to turn to their God; for the spirit of prostitution is within them, and they don’t know Yahweh.
Their[H3068] deeds[H4611] won’t[H3808] allow[H5414] them[H5414] to[H7725] turn[H7725] to[H7725] their[H3068] God,[H3068] for[H3588] the[H3588] spirit[H7307] of[H3068] prostitution[H2184] is[H3068] within[H7130] them,[H5414] and[H3068] they[H3588] don’t[H3808] know[H3045] Yahweh.[H3068]
5
The pride of Israel testifies to his face. Therefore Israel and Ephraim will stumble in their iniquity. Judah also will stumble with them.
The[H6440] pride[H1347] of[H6440] Israel[H3478] testifies[H6030] to[H3478] his[H6440] face.[H6440] Therefore[H1571] Israel[H3478] and[H3063] Ephraim[H669] will[H3478] stumble[H3782] in[H3478] their[H6440] iniquity.[H5771] Judah[H3063] also[H1571] will[H3478] stumble[H3782] with[H5973] them.[H6440]
6
They will go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Yahweh; but they won’t find him. He has withdrawn himself from them.
They[H1992] will[H3068] go[H3212] with[H3068] their[H3068] flocks[H6629] and[H3068] with[H3068] their[H3068] herds[H1241] to[H3068] seek[H1245] Yahweh,[H3068] but[H3808] they[H1992] won’t[H3808] find[H4672] him.[H4672] He[H3068] has[H3068] withdrawn[H2502] himself[H3808] from[H3068] them.[H1992]
7
They are unfaithful to Yahweh; for they have borne illegitimate children. Now the new moon will devour them with their fields.
They[H3588] are[H1121] unfaithful[H4603] to[H3068] Yahweh;[H3068] for[H3588] they[H3588] have[H3068] borne[H3205] illegitimate[H2114] children.[H1121] Now[H6258] the[H3588] new[H2320] moon[H2320] will[H3068] devour[H398] them[H1121] with[H3068] their[H3068] fields.[H7704]
8
“Blow the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah! Sound a battle cry at Beth Aven, behind you, Benjamin!
Blow[H8628] the[H8628] cornet[H7782] in[H7782] Gibeah,[H1390] and[H7414] the[H8628] trumpet[H7782] in[H7782] Ramah![H7414] Sound[H7321] a[H8628] battle[H7321] cry[H7321] at[H1144] Beth[H1004] Aven,[H206] behind[H310] you,[H859] Benjamin![H1144]
9
Ephraim will become a desolation in the day of rebuke. Among the tribes of Israel, I have made known that which will surely be.
Ephraim[H669] will[H1961] become[H1961] a[H1961] desolation[H8047] in[H3478] the[H3117] day[H3117] of[H3117] rebuke.[H8433] Among[H3478] the[H3117] tribes[H7626] of[H3117] Israel,[H3478] I[H3117] have[H1961] made[H3045] known[H3045] that[H3045] which[H3478] will[H1961] surely[H1961] be.[H1961]
10
The princes of Judah are like those who remove a landmark. I will pour out my wrath on them like water.
The[H5921] princes[H8269] of[H8269] Judah[H3063] are[H4325] like[H1961] those[H5921] who[H3063] remove[H5253] a[H1961] landmark.[H1366] I[H5921] will[H1961] pour[H8210] out[H8210] my[H5921] wrath[H5678] on[H5921] them[H5921] like[H1961] water.[H4325]
11
Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment, because he is intent in his pursuit of idols.
Ephraim[H669] is[H4941] oppressed,[H6231] he[H3588] is[H4941] crushed[H7533] in[H1980] judgment,[H4941] because[H3588] he[H3588] is[H4941] intent[H3336] in[H1980] his[H3588] pursuit[H7291] of[H4941] idols.[H1544]
12
Therefore I am to Ephraim like a moth, and to the house of Judah like rottenness.
Therefore[H3651] I[H1004] am[H1961] to[H1004] Ephraim[H669] like[H1004] a[H3063] moth,[H6211] and[H3063] to[H1004] the[H1004] house[H1004] of[H1004] Judah[H3063] like[H1004] rottenness.[H7538]
13
“When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to king Jareb: but he is not able to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound.
When[H7200] Ephraim[H669] saw[H7200] his[H7971] sickness,[H2483] and[H3063] Judah[H3063] his[H7971] wound,[H4205] then[H7971] Ephraim[H669] went[H3212] to[H3201] Assyria,[H804] and[H3063] sent[H7971] to[H3201] King[H4428] Jareb:[H3377] but[H3808] he[H1931] is[H1931] not[H3808] able[H3201] to[H3201] heal[H7495] you,[H7971] neither[H3808] will[H4428] he[H1931] cure[H1455] you[H7971] of[H4428] your[H7200] wound.[H4205]
14

For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I myself will tear in pieces and go away. I will carry off, and there will be no one to deliver.

For[H3588] I[H3588] will[H1004] be[H1004] to[H3212] Ephraim[H669] like[H1004] a[H3588] lion,[H3715] and[H3063] like[H1004] a[H3588] young[H3715] lion[H3715] to[H3212] the[H3588] house[H1004] of[H1004] Judah.[H3063] I[H3588] myself[H589] will[H1004] tear[H2963] in[H1004] pieces[H2963] and[H3063] go[H3212] away.[H5375] I[H3588] will[H1004] carry[H5375] off,[H5375] and[H3063] there[H8033] will[H1004] be[H1004] no[H5375] one[H3588] to[H3212] deliver.[H5337]
15
I will go and return to my place, until they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me earnestly.”
I[H5704] will[H5704] go[H3212] and[H7725] return[H7725] to[H5704] my[H1245] place,[H4725] until[H5704] they[H1992] acknowledge[H3045] their[H6440] offense,[H6292] and[H7725] seek[H1245] my[H1245] face.[H6440] In[H3212] their[H6440] affliction[H6862] they[H1992] will[H5704] seek[H1245] me[H6440] earnestly.”[H7836]

Chapter 6

1

“Come! Let’s return to Yahweh; for he has torn us to pieces, and he will heal us; he has injured us, and he will bind up our wounds.

2

After two days he will revive us. On the third day he will raise us up, and we will live before him.

4
Ephraim, what shall I do to you? Judah, what shall I do to you? For your love is like a morning cloud, and like the dew that disappears early.
5
Therefore I have cut them to pieces with the prophets; I killed them with the words of my mouth. Your judgments are like a flash of lightning.

For I desire mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
7

But they, like Adam, have broken the covenant. They were unfaithful to me, there.

8
Gilead is a city of those who work iniquity; it is stained with blood.
9
As gangs of robbers wait to ambush a man, so the company of priests murder on the path toward Shechem, committing shameful crimes.
10
In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing. There is prostitution in Ephraim. Israel is defiled.
