1.1
Bel bows down. Nebo stoops. Their idols are carried by animals, and on the livestock.
1.2
The things that you carried around are heavy loads, a burden for the weary.
2.1
They stoop and they bow down together. They could not deliver the burden, but they have gone into captivity.
4.1
Yes, I will carry, and will deliver.

Chapter 47

8.1
“Now therefore hear this, you who are given to pleasures, who sit securely,
8.2
who say in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me. I won’t sit as a widow, neither will I know the loss of children.’
9.1
But these two things will come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children and widowhood. They will come on you in their full measure, in the multitude of your sorceries, and the great abundance of your enchantments.
10.1
For you have trusted in your wickedness.
10.2
You have said, ‘No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and your knowledge has perverted you.
10.3
You have said in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me.’
11.1
Mischief will fall on you. You won’t be able to put it away.
11.2
Desolation will come on you suddenly, which you don’t understand.
12.1
“Stand now with your enchantments and with the multitude of your sorceries, in which you have labored from your youth, as if you might profit, as if you might prevail.
13.1
Now let the astrologers, the stargazers, and the monthly prognosticators stand up and save you from the things that will happen to you.

Chapter 46

1

Bel bows down. Nebo stoops. Their idols are carried by animals, and on the livestock. The things that you carried around are heavy loads, a burden for the weary.

Bel[H1078] bows[H7198] down.[H3766] Nebo[H5015] stoops.[H7164] Their[H1961] idols[H6091] are[H6091] carried[H5375] by[H1961] animals,[H2416] and[H5015] on[H1961] the[H1961] livestock.[H4735] The[H1961] things[H1961] that[H2416] you[H1961] carried[H5375] around[H5439] are[H6091] heavy[H3513] loads,[H4853] a[H1961] burden[H4853] for[H1961] the[H1961] weary.[H5889]
2
They stoop and they bow down together. They could not deliver the burden, but they have gone into captivity.
They[H3808] stoop[H7164] and[H1980] they[H3808] bow[H3766] down[H3766] together.[H3162] They[H3808] could[H3201] not[H3808] deliver[H4422] the[H1980] burden,[H4853] but[H3808] they[H3808] have[H3808] gone[H1980] into[H1980] captivity.[H7628]
3

“Listen to me, house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that have been carried from their birth, that have been carried from the womb.

Listen[H8085] to[H3478] me,[H4480] house[H1004] of[H1004] Jacob,[H3290] and[H3478] all[H3605] the[H3605] remnant[H7611] of[H1004] the[H3605] house[H1004] of[H1004] Israel,[H3478] that[H3605] have[H3478] been[H5375] carried[H5375] from[H4480] their[H3605] birth,[H3205] that[H3605] have[H3478] been[H5375] carried[H5375] from[H4480] the[H3605] womb.[H7356]
4
Even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear. Yes, I will carry, and will deliver.
Even[H5704] to[H5704] old[H2209] age[H7872] I[H5704] am[H1961] he,[H1931] and[H6213] even[H5704] to[H5704] gray[H7872] hairs[H7872] I[H5704] will[H5704] carry[H5375] you.[H5704] I[H5704] have[H5375] made,[H6213] and[H6213] I[H5704] will[H5704] bear.[H5375] Yes,[H3588] I[H5704] will[H5704] carry,[H5375] and[H6213] will[H5704] deliver.[H4422]
5
“To whom will you compare me, and consider my equal, and compare me, as if we were the same?
To[H1819] whom[H4310] will[H4310] you[H4310] compare[H1819] me,[H1819] and[H7737] consider[H7200] my[H7737] equal,[H7737] and[H7737] compare[H1819] me,[H1819] as[H834] if[H518] we[H1819] were[H834] the[H1819] same?[H1931]
6
Some pour out gold from the bag, and weigh silver in the balance. They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god. They fall down— yes, they worship.
Some[H4480] pour[H8210] out[H6213] gold[H2091] from[H2091] the[H6213] bag,[H3599] and[H3701] weigh[H8254] silver[H3701] in[H6213] the[H6213] balance.[H7070] They[H6213] hire[H7936] a[H6213] goldsmith,[H6884] and[H3701] he[H6213] makes[H6213] it[H6213] a[H6213] god.[H430] They[H6213] fall[H5456] down[H7812] — yes,[H3588] they[H6213] worship.[H7812]
7
They bear it on their shoulder. They carry it, and set it in its place, and it stands there. It cannot move from its place. Yes, one may cry to it, yet it can not answer. It cannot save him out of his trouble.
They[H5921] bear[H5375] it[H5921] on[H5921] their[H5375] shoulder.[H3802] They[H5921] carry[H5375] it,[H5921] and[H6030] set[H5975] it[H5921] in[H5921] its[H5921] place,[H4725] and[H6030] it[H5921] stands[H5975] there.[H5975] It[H5921] cannot[H3808] move[H4185] from[H5921] its[H5921] place.[H4725] Yes,[H3588] one[H3808] may[H3808] cry[H6817] to[H5921] it,[H5921] yet[H3808] it[H5921] can[H3808] not[H3808] answer.[H6030] It[H5921] cannot[H3808] save[H3467] him[H5921] out[H5921] of[H5921] his[H5375] trouble.[H6869]
8
“Remember this, and show yourselves men. Bring it to mind again, you transgressors.
Remember[H2142] this,[H2063] and[H7725] show[H7200] yourselves[H5921] men.[H376] Bring[H7725] it[H5921] to[H7725] mind[H3820] again,[H7725] you[H5921] transgressors.[H6586]
9
Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is no other. I am God, and there is none like me.
Remember[H2142] the[H3588] former[H7223] things[H7223] of[H7223] old;[H5769] for[H3588] I[H3588] am[H1961] God,[H430] and[H5769] there[H5769] is[H3588] no[H3808] other.[H5750] I[H3588] am[H1961] God,[H430] and[H5769] there[H5769] is[H3588] none[H369] like[H3644] me.[H3588]
10
I declare the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done. I say: My counsel will stand, and I will do all that I please.
I[H3808] declare[H5046] the[H3605] end[H6924] from[H6965] the[H3605] beginning,[H7225] and[H6965] from[H6965] ancient[H6924] times[H6924] things[H3605] that[H3605] are[H6213] not[H3808] yet[H3808] done.[H6213] I[H3808] say:[H559] My[H3605] counsel[H6098] will[H3808] stand,[H6965] and[H6965] I[H3808] will[H3808] do[H6213] all[H3605] that[H3605] I[H3808] please.[H4994]
11
I call a ravenous bird from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. Yes, I have spoken. I will also bring it to pass. I have planned. I will also do it.
I[H7121] call[H7121] a[H6213] ravenous[H5861] bird[H5861] from[H4217] the[H6213] east,[H4217] the[H6213] man[H376] of[H6098] my[H6213] counsel[H6098] from[H4217] a[H6213] far[H4801] country.[H2022] Yes,[H3588] I[H7121] have[H1696] spoken.[H1696] I[H7121] will[H6213] also[H6213] bring[H6213] it[H7121] to[H1696] pass.[H6213] I[H7121] have[H1696] planned.[H3335] I[H7121] will[H6213] also[H6213] do[H6213] it.[H7121]
12
Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, who are far from righteousness!
Listen[H8085] to[H3820] me,[H8085] you[H8085] stubborn-hearted,[H3820] who[H7350] are[H7350] far[H7350] from[H8085] righteousness![H6666]
13
I bring my righteousness near. It is not far off, and my salvation will not wait. I will grant salvation to Zion, my glory to Israel.
I[H5414] bring[H7126] my[H5414] righteousness[H6666] near.[H7126] It[H5414] is[H3478] not[H3808] far[H7368] off,[H7368] and[H3478] my[H5414] salvation[H8668] will[H3478] not[H3808] wait.[H693] I[H5414] will[H3478] grant[H5414] salvation[H8668] to[H3478] Zion,[H6726] my[H5414] glory[H8597] to[H3478] Israel.[H3478]

Chapter 47

1
“Come down and sit in the dust, virgin daughter of Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne, daughter of the Chaldeans. For you will no longer be called tender and delicate.
2
Take the millstones and grind flour. Remove your veil, lift up your skirt, uncover your legs, and wade through the rivers.
3
Your nakedness will be uncovered. Yes, your shame will be seen. I will take vengeance, and will spare no one.”
4
Our Redeemer, Yahweh of Armies is his name, is the Holy One of Israel.
5
“Sit in silence, and go into darkness, daughter of the Chaldeans. For you shall no longer be called the mistress of kingdoms.
6
I was angry with my people. I profaned my inheritance and gave them into your hand. You showed them no mercy. You laid a very heavy yoke on the aged.
7
You said, ‘I will be a princess forever,’ so that you didn’t lay these things to your heart, nor did you remember the results.
8

“Now therefore hear this, you who are given to pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me. I won’t sit as a widow, neither will I know the loss of children.’

9

But these two things will come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children and widowhood. They will come on you in their full measure, in the multitude of your sorceries, and the great abundance of your enchantments.

10
For you have trusted in your wickedness. You have said, ‘No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and your knowledge has perverted you. You have said in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me.’
