Revelation

The Way, Truth, Life

This is the Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things which must happen soon,
In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.
If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.
which he sent and made known by his angel to his servant, John,
You know where I go, and you know the way.”
who testified to God’s word and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, about everything that he saw.
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy,
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.
and keep the things that are written in it, for the time is at hand.
No one comes to the Father, except through me.
John, to the seven assemblies that are in Asia:
If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him.”

I like the story in John 14 where Jesus says, “I am the Way,” the Truth and the Life because it begins with a house and ends with a revelation. Let’s compare it to the first verses of Revelation 1 to look for connections and what they reveal.
Father’s House
Jesus goes to prepare a place in his Father’s house. The connection suggests God’s house is the Kingdom given to Jesus.
It is a place in eternity which he prepares for us, having passed through death and into new life.
Receive You
The invisible part promises that Jesus will come again and receive us to himself. So where he is, we may be also.
That, to me, is in the coming Kingdom of the invisible God. Or, perhaps an invisible kingdom of the invisible God.
The Way
The verse says, “You know where I go, and you know the way. It’s the same place from which the angel is sent, to the servants of God, all those who know him.
A Twin
Thomas acts a bit confused and says “Lord, we don’t know where you’re going. How can we know the way? Jesus is about to tell him.
The connection, I believe, lie in name Thomas, which means, “A Twin.” Those who testify to the word and testimony of Jesus, whose words live within us, become like him. Like a twin.
I Am the Way
Here Jesus speaks the famous line, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Blessed are those who read and hear the words of the prophesy.
Jesus, I believe, is in the words of the prophesy. They are words of truth, and words of life. They are the way back to the eternal kingdom of God.
No One but Jesus
No one comes to the father except through me. You cannot enter the coming kingdom, except through Christ. He is the invisible one, whose Kingdom draws near.
Revelation
It ends on a powerful note: “If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him and have seen him.”
God is in the words of the prophesy, given to Jesus, to show to us, his Kingdom. His Church.
This is where the story began. The Lord God will illuminate us. Delivered from the power of darkness. Like a dawning, on the first day. Knowing good and evil. In a place prepared by Christ himself.
It’s a place and a person that’s hard to see. But, one that seems can be revealed through the power and design of God’s amazing words.
